Translations

It would be a falsehood to claim I am linguistically able enough to translate seemlessly from one language to another. Anyone who knows me will know this is simply not the case. However, I do like the idea, the challenge of translating poems.

It began three years ago in Osaka when my great co-worker, Taka, asked me to translate a Japanese song with him into English. The resulting melody was then performed to our students by Taka. We collaborated again a year or so later.

Follow the drop downs to the right, when they are completed, to look at some of my translation-interpretations. Feel free to let me know about the mistakes but don’t take them too seriously. It’s just a little piece of fun for me.
